Teentober

October 1, 2021 - October 31, 2021

TeenTober is an international celebration hosted by libraries every October aiming to celebrate teens while promoting year-round services and the innovative ways they help teens learn new skills.  Staff are encouraged to use this international celebration to advocate for, and raise awareness of, the importance of year-round services for teenagers at their local libraries.

Even though this was originally set out to be a library celebration, why not incorporate it into your classroom?

Enlighten and engage middle and secondary school students to participate in literacy activities like:

  • a book discussion on some of today’s popular reads chosen by the students
  • introducing biographies of their favorite pop culture figures
  • reading books about interesting hobbies
  • making students laugh when literature intentionally made to be funny (e.g. a book by John Lithgow)
  • encouraging students to read what they want, just for the fun of it!
