  1. Little Alchemy 2 https://littlealchemy2.com/ – It could be a great option for students who finish their work early or as an optional homework assignment. For more traditional learning, teachers could have their students map out the factor trees (which will look more like webs) as they create new elements.  Suitable for students in grades 6-12.
  2. Media Smarts https://mediasmarts.ca/digital-media-literacy/educational-games – Educational computer games that introduce kids to key ideas in media and digital literacy. These games are a great way to start a conversation on media issues in the home or classroom, and you can play most of them right here on our website.
  3. Newsfeed Defenders https://www.icivics.org/games/newsfeed-defenders – Welcome to Newsably, a fictional social media site focused on news and information. Your mission? Maintain the site, grow traffic, and watch out! You’ll also need to spot fake posts that try to sneak in through hidden ads, viral deception, and false reporting.  
  4. StoriumEdu https://storiumedu.com/ – Gameplay revolves around digital “story cards” that represent different aspects of storytelling and character development.  Students take turns playing story cards and adding to the story. Paragraph by paragraph, they collaboratively write their own original story simply by playing the game. Appropriate for students in late elementary, junior high, and high school students. Teachers can monitor all student writing, provide feedback, and request revisions.
  5. Syvum https://www.syvum.com/online/english.html – A variety of games and activities aimed at students learning English.
  6. Textadventures.co.uk http://textadventures.co.uk/ – All games are either playable in a web browser or as an app on a smartphone or tablet. Almost all are free and there is an option to make your own using the free software – Quest or Squiffy.
  7. Witty Comics http://www.wittycomics.com/ – A simply designed website to create basic comics.
  8. WordCraft https://www.playwordcraft.com/ – Morphemes are the building blocks of language – make them fun, addictive, and easy to acquire. After learning a word’s roots, crystallize that knowledge with spelling. (Grammar will be coming soon.)
  9. WriteComics http://writecomics.com/ – It is extremely simple to create comics on this website. All that is needed is to select a few characters, an interesting background image and speech bubbles.
