  2. Dreamscape https://www.playdreamscape.com/ – Dreamscape combines strategy, engagement, and imaginative reading passages to create a fun, curriculum-aligned literacy game for grades 2 – 8. Each report on the teacher’s dashboard was thoughtfully designed to support guided instruction and appropriate intervention to meet each student’s literacy need.
  3. Education.com (Grammar Online Games)https://www.education.com/games/grammar/ – A nice variety of games that help students learn how to use nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and more.
  4. Language Arts Gameshttps://www.education.com/games/ela/ – Whether your child is just beginning to learn their letters and phonics or they’re ready to build sentences and strengthen their reading comprehension, this collection of reading games has just the right learning adventure for your child to explore. In order to access the games, a regiastration is necessary.
  5. Little Alchemy 2 https://littlealchemy2.com/ – It could be a great option for students who finish their work early or as an optional homework assignment. For more traditional learning, teachers could have their students map out the factor trees (which will look more like webs) as they create new elements.  Suitable for students in grades 6-12.
  6. Media Smarts https://mediasmarts.ca/digital-media-literacy/educational-games – Educational computer games that introduce kids to key ideas in media and digital literacy. These games are a great way to start a conversation on media issues in the home or classroom, and you can play most of them right here on our website.
  7. Newsfeed Defenders https://www.icivics.org/games/newsfeed-defenders – Welcome to Newsably, a fictional social media site focused on news and information. Your mission? Maintain the site, grow traffic, and watch out! You’ll also need to spot fake posts that try to sneak in through hidden ads, viral deception, and false reporting.  
  8. Quandary Game https://www.quandarygame.org/ – It’s a branching narrativ so students can replay the same scenario in Quandary, but choose differently to achieve different outcomes. For teachers, this can be a conversation starter. You might want to have students play alone or in pairs, running through the game twice. After each session, facilitate group discussion. Suitable for students in grades 5-8.
  9. Read to Lead https://readtolead.org/games-lessons/#games – By creating digital learning games and curriculum set in the professional world and supporting educators in creating student-centered classrooms, students are invited to take charge of their learning. Practice reading, writing and 21st-century skills through fun and engaging workplace simulations. There are currently three games: Community in Crisis (gr. 5-6), Vital Signs (gr. 6-8) and After the Storm (gr. 7-9).
  10. StoriumEdu https://storiumedu.com/ – Gameplay revolves around digital “story cards” that represent different aspects of storytelling and character development.  Students take turns playing story cards and adding to the story. Paragraph by paragraph, they collaboratively write their own original story simply by playing the game. Appropriate for students in late elementary, junior high, and high school students. Teachers can monitor all student writing, provide feedback, and request revisions.

  12. Textadventures.co.uk http://textadventures.co.uk/ – All games are either playable in a web browser or as an app on a smartphone or tablet. Almost all are free and there is an option to make your own using the free software – Quest or Squiffy.
  13. Witty Comics http://www.wittycomics.com/ – A simply designed website to create basic comics.
  14. WordCraft https://www.playwordcraft.com/ – Morphemes are the building blocks of language – make them fun, addictive, and easy to acquire. After learning a word’s roots, crystallize that knowledge with spelling. (Grammar will be coming soon.)
  15. WriteComics http://writecomics.com/ – It is extremely simple to create comics on this website. All that is needed is to select a few characters, an interesting background image and speech bubbles.
