This method teaches just basic phonics concepts without struggle or frustration and includes rules for vowels, consonants, and blends along with practice pages.
  2. ESL Flashcards (Phonics)https://www.eslflashcards.com/sets/phonics/ – Find phonics sets for practicing long and short vowel sounds, consonant digraphs and blends, as well as sets for teaching non-phonetic sight words.
  3. Fun Fonix https://www.funfonix.com/ – There are 10+ worksheet makers and printable game templates to make custom worksheets and an additional section of free online phonics games for students. It is a phonics warehouse of resources and materials designed to move quickly through phonics rules. Ideal for teachers with limited time for phonics instruction or educators who need additional materials for learning and practice.

Kiz Phonicshttps://www.kizphonics.com/ – There is a heavy emphasis placed on the proper progression through fundamentals, like the alphabet, phonics, pronunciation, sentence structure, and reading techniques. There are many free resources available on the website but, to take full advantage of the program, a paid subscription will be needed.
  6. Lalilohttps://lalilo.com – A research-based and comprehension program in both French and English. Students work on adaptive exercises in phonics, word recognition, and comprehension. Students journey through different worlds, collecting badges and unlocking stories. Teachers can track whole class and individual progress as well as assign specific lessons. Basic option is free but premium services require payment.

Lanternfish https://bogglesworldesl.com/phonics.htm – Lanternfish phonics generally follows a synthetic phonics progression with an emphasis on phoneme-grapheme correspondences (as opposed to onset-rime phonics).  There are other resources listed here as well that emphasize sight wordsdecoding skills, and early reading skills.
  8. Letterland https://us.letterland.com/at-school – Award-winning Pre-K through Grade Three resources for teaching phonics and foundational literacy skills. Created to teach phonics using a story-based approach. The story logic engages students leading to long term retention of concepts. It activates every learning channel through music, actions, alliteration, movement, song, art, games and role-play.

LiveWorksheets (Phonics) https://www.liveworksheets.com/search.asp?content=phonics – Liveworksheets allows you to transform your traditional printable worksheets into interactive worksheets and take full advantage of the new technologies applied to education: they may include sounds, videos, drag and drop exercises, join with arrows, multiple choice… and even speaking exercises, that the students must do using the microphone.
  10. Mr. Nussbaum Learning & Fun https://mrnussbaum.com/lang-arts/phonics – This section contains activities, games, and resources related to phonics. A good way to fit in some brief phonics instruction with the games when you are unable to do a complete phonics lesson. Note: Not all games are free… some require a subscription to Mr. N365.

Reading Bearhttps://www.readingbear.org/ – The first free program online to teach beginning readers vocabulary and concepts while systematically introducing all the main phonetic patterns of written English, all using innovative rich media. There are 50 presentations covering phonics principles and illustrating over 1,200 vocabulary items.

Designed to complement any reading program, this integrated language approach teaches listening, writing, reading, and language study.

Starfallhttps://www.starfall.com/h/ – Emphasis on research-based activities dealing with phonemic awareness, systematic sequential phonics, and common sight words in conjunction with audiovisual interactivity for emergent readers. There is some free content but premium services require payment.

The School Runhttps://www.theschoolrun.com/phonics-teaching-step-by-step – The step-by-step explanation takes you through the different stages of phonics learning, what your child will be expected to learn and the vocabulary you need to know. It also has a large selection of free phonics worksheets to download for your child.
  20. Twinkl – Make use of our resources to identify letter-sound relationships of all single letters, build words using sounds learnt, use consonant blends to build up and break down words, recognise common consonant digraphs at the beginning and end of a word, recognise plurals as well as word endings and group common words into sound families. Note: There are many free resources to download but a membership will be needed for the rest.
