Literacy Links (4-6)

Literacy Links for Students in Grade 4 – 6

In today’s classrooms, the ability to immerse children into the language arts can be challenging without some component of technology. How can we continue to build a foundation of Balanced Literacy otherwise? Students need to be immersed in all areas of language arts – reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing and representing – across the curriculum through a variety of interactive language experiences. These experiences can be done in many different ways (including taking advantage of some of the technology available on the internet).

Educators (whether it is in the classroom or at home) now have a choice. For instance, the instructional component of “read alouds” can demonstrated first by the educator using an actual book but the reading library can now be expanded exponentially by using one of a number of digital book libraries available on the internet nowadays. This is especially significant in areas where resources and budgets are limited.

You may be asking: How do I even begin? I don’t have time to scour the internet for the type of program I am looking for. I don’t have any type of school budget to purchase all that programming.

The answer? You don’t. That is our job. We have compiled and organized all of the literacy websites that we have been able to find and broken them into sections to help make it easier for educators to find what they are looking for.
